Job Description
RCS Communications is a full-service Wireless Communications Systems Provider throughout Louisville, Lexington, Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana, providing a broad range of services and solutions for our customer needs, we are seeking individual(s) that will work in a team environment upfitting vehicle such as police, fire and traffic control units, candidates will diagnose and perform repairs on emergency vehicles and associated equipment using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools. Additionally, being able to safely remove interior and exterior panels in passenger and commercial vehicles to gain access to wiring and components, properly testing into 12v constant and ignition sources is essential, ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces is to be expected.
Applicant must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have a positive and confident attitude, and consider themselves to be a highly organized, self-starter who can work on multiple projects with a minimum of supervision
Looking for skills….
• Experience (not required but preferred) in automotive warning equipment installation (e.g. experience installing emergency lighting, two-way mobile radios, GPS equipment, antennas or other electrical equipment)
• Must have a valid driver license with a clean driving history.
• Experience with Law Enforcement or Fire/EMS preferred
• Intermediate knowledge of automotive electrical systems & vehicle wiring.
• Ability to operate power tools and hand tools (drill, wrench, nail gun, staple gun, gauge, vise, etc.) as required.
• Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and sound judgment required.
• Ability to communicate well with others.
• Ability to work on and see colored small objects.
• Must be mechanically inclined to disassemble mechanical parts for all types of vehicles.
• Use of good judgment and knowledge acquired to perform custom fabrication.
• Must be innovative and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Be able to conduct basic programming of installed equipment, test its full functionality and perform troubleshooting when needed
• Maintain an orderly and clean working environment, keeping the shop organized.
• Complete all required paperwork (service orders, work logs, timecards, etc.)
